Irene P. Warren, 95, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Thursday, March 8, 2018, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 4 PM, Saturday, March 10, 2018, at The Paulk Funeral Home, in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. David Fisher and the Rev. Jeff Parmer officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Warren was born May 7, 1922, in Forsyth County, Georgia, to the late H. M. & Mamie Hammonds Phagan. She graduated from Rebecca High School and played basketball while she attended. Mrs. Warren was a grader and inspector for the Monarch Company and a former employee of Fitzgerald Underwear. She was a beautician and worked at area nursing homes. Mrs. Warren was a charter member of the former Northside Baptist Church and a member of Crossview Baptist Church. She was very active on the food committee, prayer chain, and the bereavement committee as well as Young At Heart and the Golden Believers. She will be remembered for her cooking, especially her caramel cakes, and was known by many as “Mama Warren”.
She is survived by her children: Virginia Warren Rogers & Joe of Fitzgerald, Harry Warren & Nancy of Winder and Elaine Warren Elder & Charles of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Joey Rogers, Paula McPhaul & Danny, DeAnnia Clements & Jon, Heather Walker & Stan, Sheri Brown & Blake, Delanna Snowden & Jesse, Christina Cain & Matt, Paige Mullis & Randy and Warren Elder & Angela; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, A. W. Warren and a sister, Ina Mae Lamb.
