Lorraine M. (Sullivan) Thyne 92, of Blackstone, died peacefully, with her family at her side, Thursday March 8, 2018 at Milford Regional Medical Center, following an illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Donald J. Thyne, who died in 1999.
Born February 16, 1926 in Lowell, a daughter of the late John J. and Nora A. (McDermott) Sullivan, she was a former resident of Franklin, Boynton Beach, FL, and Milford before moving to Blackstone 2 years ago.
She was raised and educated in Lowell, where she attended Immaculate Conception and Lowell High School. Lorraine worked for the Town of Franklin in the Treasurer/Collector’s office and retired in 1981. Following her retirement and along with her husband they relocated to Boynton Beach, Florida where she took on a similar role for the City of Boynton Beach and retired in 1995.
She treasured spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lorraine enjoyed word searches, reading, woodworking and ceramics.
She was a member of the Massachusetts Retiree’s Association and Poor Clare Guild/A.S.F.S.M.E.
Lorraine is survived by 2 sisters, Patricia Kerins of Milton, Beverly Conroy of Lowell, and a brother, John Sullivan of Massachusetts.
Also surviving are her grandchildren, James P. Genoa II, of Woonsocket, Bernadette A. Goudreau and her husband Troy of Blackstone, Ann-Marie Dillman and her husband Warren-Scott of Holden and Maureen E. Hawkins and her husband Christopher of Oviedo, FL, and great grandchildren Dominick & Lindsay Genoa, Nicholas Goudreau, Trent Dillman, Avery & Mackenzie Hawkins.
Lorraine was the mother of the late Donald J. Thyne, Jr. and Patricia A. “Pat” Genoa and the sister of the late Jacqueline Swan.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral THURSDAY MARCH. 15th at 8:30AM from the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. followed by a funeral Mass in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church 187 Hopedale St. Hopedale, MA at 10AM.
Interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Franklin will be held privately.
