Obituary

Bennie “Elwood” McDaniel, 77, of Groveland, Florida went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, March 7, 2018, while at home in Groveland, Florida in the company of his family. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 15, 2018, at Hickory Springs Primitive Baptist Church. Mr. McDaniel will be laid to rest at Hickory Springs Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, March 15, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service at Hickory Springs Primitive Baptist Church.

Born September 30, 1940 in Tifton, Mr. McDaniel was the son of the late Henry Alvin McDaniel and Vennie Lucinda Roberson McDaniel. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, George Ervin McDaniel and Larry McDaniel. “Mack”, as he was known n the United States Navy, was honorably discharged after four years of service. During his time in the Navy, he experienced the cultures of Japan, Guam and Panama, to name a few. He enjoyed the beaches of Hawaii and San Diego. In 1963, he met his bride-to-be, Annette, on a blind date in San Diego. Upon leaving the Navy, he worked with his father in construction, until he began a career with AT&T, thanks in large part to his older brother Ervin. He retired after nearly 40 years of service, to enjoy more time with family and to pursue his love of mullet fishing, gardening, animal watching, westerns and riding his John Deere.

Mr. McDaniel is survived by his wife of 54 years, Annette Joyce Novasel McDaniel of Groveland, Florida; five sons and three daughters-in-law, Bryan Sean McDaniel of Belgrade, Montana, Shannon Joseph and Ashley McDaniel of Mascotte, Florida, Brennan Lee McDaniel of Groveland, Florida, Todd Benjamin and Vanessa McDaniel of Clermont, Florida and Schirra Brandon and Nicole McDaniel; three daughters and sons-in-law, Annette Joyce and Jason Garrett of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Cindi Marie McDaniel and Mark McPhie of Bozeman, Montana and Kellan Jackson and Andy Mercer of Virginia; his cherished grandchildren, Brooke, Josh, Dillon, Quinn, Nicholas, Sydney, Sawyer, Tegan, Levi, Kaiden, Maddie and Jackson; two sisters, Sharon Rooks of Ty Ty and Sandy Young of Tennille; and many nieces and nephews, who were very special to “Uncle Elwood”.
