SEBAGO- David A. Tampsett, age 63, passed away unexpectedly on March 6, 2018 peacefully in his sleep at home. He was born in Liverpool, England on August 26, 1954, a son of the late William H. Tampsett and Margaret (Wilson) Tampsett. David graduated from Bellingham High School in 1973.
David, AKA- “Liverpool Lou”, “Louie”, or “Uncle Dave”, was known for his kind heart, selfless acts, sense of humor, love for the kids, and of course his endless stories, all of which held (some) truth to them…the craziest ones usually holding the most. David loved his lottery, fishing on Sebago Lake, his family, friends and his animals. A simple man in his own right, David’s most valued possessions were not in anything he owned, but in the relationships he kept, whether from his past in Massachusetts or his present in Maine, as his heart lived fully in both places. The community of Sebago and Sebago Elementary School’s (where David was employed as a custodian) kids, staff, and families knew him, not as David, but as “Uncle Dave”, which expresses clearly, in itself, the man he was---a friend to all, “family” to many.
He is predeceased by a great nephew, Nicholas Olsen and a great niece Layla Charrette. David is survived by his son David Tampsett, his sisters June and husband Donald Berry of Sebago, Maine, Irene and husband Gary Cummings of Bellingham, Massachusetts, and Margaret and husband Gerard Robitaille of Blackstone, Massachusetts and brother William Tampsett of Englewood, Florida; four nieces Denise, Jessie, Jenn, and Marissa and five nephews Chucky, Billy, BJ, Will and Patrick and countless great nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, March 18th at 1pm at the American Legion in Naples on Rt. 11 for his Maine family and friends. A second celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 24th at 1pm at Pete’s Bluebird in Bellingham, Massachusetts for his Massachusetts family and friends.
