Keith G. Wallenstein, age 62, of Winchester, passed away unexpectedly on March 6, 2018. He was the beloved husband of Barbara E. (Paulson) Wallenstein of Winchester.
Born in Plainfield, NJ, Keith was the son of the late Theodore R. and Adele (Noble) Wallenstein. He was raised and educated in Long Valley, NJ and graduated from West Morris High School. An avid skier, he attended Plymouth State College, primarily so he could ski, and came to the Boston area after graduation.
Keith managed a ski store for many years in Wakefield, MA before coming to Winchester, where he became the Chief Dispatcher for the Police and Fire Departments for over 26 years.
A resident of Winchester for over 36 years, Mr. Wallenstein was a Scoutmaster for Troop 507 in Winchester, and enjoyed coaching baseball in the Senior/Minor baseball league, where he also once served as Commissioner. In his spare time, in addition to skiing, Keith enjoyed taking pictures. Music was very important to him as a fan and a musician. He was an “adopted New Englander” and an avid Boston sports fan.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Wallenstein is survived by his son, Theodore Wallenstein and his wife Blair of Pembroke, MA. He was also the devoted grandfather of Maggie Wallenstein, the dear brother of Craig Wallenstein of NJ, and the cherished favorite uncle to several nieces, nephews and friends. He was loved by generations of close cousins, family and friends. His smile was infectious and his heart was generous and kind.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather at Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester on Friday, March 9, from 4-8PM, and again on Sat. at 10AM followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, 155 Washington St., Winchester at 11AM. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester.
