Obituary

F. Donald “Don” Ball, 84, of Derry, NH, passed away Tuesday March 6, 2018, surrounded by his loving family at his home. He was born in Derry, NH on June 13, 1933, a son of the late Foster and Esther (Martel) Ball, and had been a lifelong resident. Don was a graduate of Pinkerton Academy in Derry, Class of 1951. He proudly served his country in the US Air force during the Korean Conflict. Don had been employed as the Director of Parks and Recreation for the town of Derry for many years.

He is survived by his daughter, Linda Ball Gallant of Litchfield, NH; his three sons, Douglas Ball and his wife Donna of Londonderry, NH, Daniel Ball of Derry, and Darren Ball and Donna Mustone of Windham, NH; six grandchildren, Jason and Nathan Ball, Colby, Colin, and Cameron Ball, and Landon Gallant; five great grandchildren, JD, Marilyn, Bentley, Jameson, and Sadie; his daughter in law, Joanne Tucker Ott of Colorado; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Don was predeceased by his beloved wife Marilyn (Bentley) Ball in 2005, one son, Dana Ball in 1991, his brother, Frederick Ball in 1989, his brother Foster Ball, and his sister Phyllis Macwha.

Following cremation, calling hours were held on Monday, March 12th from 4 – 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry. A memorial service was held on Tuesday March 13th at 10:00am in First Parish Church, 47 East Derry Rd., Derry. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Derry Parks and Recreation Dept., 31 West Broadway, Derry, NH 03038.
