Obituary



Francis E Sullivan passed into eternal life March 5, 2018 surrounded by his family after a long battle with Cancer.
He was the husband of Sue (Ann Manning) Sullivan, his high school sweetheart, for 51 years. Born in South Boston to the late Francis and Mary Sullivan, he was a graduate of Don Bosco High School in 1962. He enlisted in the Navy and after an honorable discharge, moved to Quincy. In 1970, he joined the Quincy Fire Department. In his thirty years with the QFD, he ultimately served as Captain of the Wollaston Hill Fire station and then as the Training Officer of Quincy’s Fire Training Academy. He also served as an Instructor at the Massachusetts Fire Academy in Stowe, training top recruits from all over the state. Always one to put family first, he served as Scoutmaster of the Boy Scout Troop 5 at St. Boniface Church of Quincy. In retirement, he taught Fire Science at Anna Maria College, Empire State College, and Quincy College; where he founded the fire science program. He loved his home in the Lake Fairways community of North Fort Myers, Florida; where he and his wife Sue served on the Entertainment Committee.
In addition to his wife Sue, he is survived by his sister, Elaine Breen and the late Regina Hussey; son John Sullivan and his wife Kerry; daughter Susan Wentworth and her husband Ron Reilly; son Robert Sullivan and his wife Karin; eight grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held from 2-6:00 PM, on Sunday, March 11th, at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St (rt. 106) Kingston MA 02364. A celebration of life will be celebrated at Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Church, 126 South Meadow Rd, Plymouth on Monday, March 12th at 10:00 AM. Francis will be laid to rest at the Massachusetts National Cemetery with military honors at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Frank’s memory may be made to Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance (tsalliance.org) or Pat Roche Hospice Home (nvna.org).
