Also survived by several nieces and nephews including Mary Bordinelli of Brockton and Joseph Bordinelli of Castleton, VT, and many devoted family friends.
Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Tuesday at 8am. Funeral Mass in Christ the King Parish at 9am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visiting Hours Monday 3-6pm. Obituary Information
Joseph F. Abril, died Friday at Northeast Specialty Hospital in Stoughton following a lengthy battle with cancer and Parkinsons. He was born and raised in Stoughton, the eldest child of the late Joseph and Mary (Silva) Abril. He was a graduate of Stoughton High School, class of 1935, graduating at the head of his class. Following high school he was employed by American Biltrite Company in Stoughton where he founded a workers union and was the Union Representative for several years. He was an Army veteran of WWII who served in the Philippines, had been the proprietor of two men’s clothing stores in Brockton, and retired from the Brockton Post Office after many years of employment. He was a lover of animals and enjoyed watching sports, and had been a resident of Brockton for the past 64 years.
He is survived by three sisters Nellie Barros and Anne Abril both of Stoughton, Mary “May” Correia of Brockton, four brothers Anthony of Taunton, Manuel of Stoughton, Francis of Ocala, FL, and John of Virginia. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews including Mary Bordinelli of Brockton and Joseph Bordinelli of Castleton, VT, and many devoted family friends. He was the husband for 63 years of the late Olida R. “Ditto” (St. Jacques) Abril.
