Elizabeth "Betty" Cook passed away on Sunday, March 4, 2018, just a few days shy of her 90th birthday.
Betty was born in Jersey City and moved to Rockaway in 1954. She spent her career at St. Clare's Hospital as a medical transcriber and after retirement she continued to be an active member of the United Methodist Church of the Rockaways and the Methodist Women’s Society. She loved square and round dancing, traveling, and animals. She also enjoyed knitting baby sweaters, decorating cakes, vegetable gardening, and bingo.
Betty is survived by her four children: Janet Ellison, William Cook, Robert Cook, Steven Cook; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Henry “Harry” Cook.
A funeral service will be held at the United Methodist Church of the Rockaways, 1 Hoagland Ave, Rockaway, at 10am Thursday, March 22, 2018. A visitation will be held at the church from 7-9pm on Wednesday, March 21, 2018. Interment will follow the funeral at Rockaway Presbyterian Cemetery.
