Louis M. Fazio Jr.
71 years Worcester Funeral Director
WORCESTER - Mr. Louis M. Fazio Jr., 89, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, March 3, 2018 surrounded by his loving wife and family.
Lou was born on October 10, 1928 in Worcester, Massachusetts, a son of the late Louis F. and Adeline P. (Fittipaldi) Fazio.
He was a lifelong resident of Worcester and was a graduate of Commerce High School and the New School of Mortuary Science. He became involved in the family business under his father’s tutelage along with his brother, Francis C. Fazio and in 1947 the business was incorporated and became Louis Fazio and Sons Funeral Home. Lou and his family have served Greater Worcester for over 71 years, having the honor and privilege of helping families whom entrusted their family’s losses to their care.
Lou, known as Big Lou, Puppy, Papa, Junior; a fun loving guy, who loved to cook, enjoyed the many holidays with his family. He was an avid card player who enjoyed scat with his family and also his pitch games on Monday night with his card gang. He enjoyed his many trips to the Casino as well as many competitive cribbage games with family and friends. He loved to travel and was fortunate to have many trips and cruises with his wife Janet as well as many family trips with the most recent being a cruise to celebrate their 60th anniversary to Bermuda with the entire twenty –two family members. Food and family was his passion and many of the restaurants received his reviews although they were only shared with his family.
For many years as the family business was starting up he worked nights at some of the local bakeries. He was the top bagel maker in the City of Worcester, and most recently worked at Lederman Bakery on Water St. in Worcester. One of his greatest joys was helping to get his four children through college without them incurring that debt. He always wanted more for his family and wished he hit the lottery but his family was always telling him just the opposite that he was the best Dad he could be.
Lou was a former member of the Sons of Italy and was involved for many years on the Commerce High School reunion committee. The committee was currently working on their 70th Class Reunion. He was a longtime parishioner of the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel – St Ann Church where his parents were part of the founding members. Upon the closing of the church, he had been attended masses at Our Lady of Mount Carmel at Our Lady of Loreto Church. He was a strong Catholic and devoted in his faith.
He leave his loving wife and soul mate of sixty –one years, Janet (DeLuca) Fazio, two daughters, Anne Haas and her husband Bob, Nancy Lindgren and her husband Gary; two sons, Louis M Fazio III and his wife Anita Ulloa, his son Frank Fazio and his wife Laurie; thirteen grandchildren, Matthew Haas, Andrew Haas, Janet Haas, Annemarie Haas, Dan Lindgren, Jeff Lindgren, and Kristina Lindgren, Analisa Fazio, Shaun Ulloa, Gina Fazio King, Michael Fazio, Elizabeth Fazio, Ashley Fazio; his sisters in law, Rose Fazio , Katherine Drumheller, Lenora DeLuca ; his brothers in law, Robert DeLuca, Richard Deluca and partner Barbara and many nieces and nephews.
