Obituary

Domenic D’Ascenzo 76, of Franklin, died peacefully, surrounded by his family, Friday March 2, 2018 at Metrowest Medical Center, in Framingham, following an illness. He was the beloved husband of Pierina (Zappitelli) D’Ascenzo, with whom he shared 52 years of marriage.

Born February 21, 1942 in Ofena, Italy, a son of the late Idolo and Elvira (Cerasoli) D’Ascenzo, he came to the United States in 1961 and settled in Franklin.

He was raised and educated in Italy, and worked as an aide for the Wrentham Development School and formerly worked for Kendall Mills in Walpole.

He treasured spending time with his family, especially his grandson, whom he loved to watch play football and baseball. Domenic could also be found watching the Italian soccer team Torino FC, playing bocce and gardening.

Domenic was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church, Franklin and the Quattro Eroi Lodge 1414 Franklin Sons of Italy.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son Mario R. D’Ascenzo and his wife Caryn of Blackstone and a brother Gino D’Ascenzo of Franklin. Also surviving is his grandson Mario R. D’Ascenzo, Jr.

He was the father of the late Paul A. D’Ascenzo and brother of the late Ovidio D’Ascenzo.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Saturday March 10th, at 9:15AM from the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church 1 Church Square Franklin at 10AM.

Interment will follow at the parish cemetery.

Calling hours are Friday from 4-8PM.
