John A. Statho Jr., a resident of Melrose, passed away on March 1, 2018, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was 56 years old.
John was a dedicated employee of Verizon for many years and a member of Local IBEW 2222. He was also a talented craftsman, woodworker, and furniture maker and an avid Red Sox fan.
John was the beloved husband of Janine (Salamy) Statho. He was the loving father of Gregory Statho and Chloe Statho both of Melrose. John was the cherished son of Beverly Forgione and the late John A. Stathos. He was the brother of Donna Zagami and her husband Joseph and Dianne Ferri and her husband Kevin. John was the dear son in-law of Yvonne Salamy and her late husband George and brother in-law of Marcelle Vogel and her husband Rick and Nicole Bock and her husband Kevin. He is also survived by loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The funeral will be held from the A. J. Spadafora Funeral Home 865 Main Street, Malden on Tuesday March 6th at 9:00am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Mary’s Church, Herbert Street, Melrose at 10:00am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday March 5th from 4-8pm. Interment will be in Mount Benedict Cemetery, West Roxbury.
