Obituary

Our mom Shirley Salta left us peacefully on February 28, 2018 to join her husband Peter in heaven, hopefully he was on time to meet her at the pearly gates.

Born on July 13, 1927 to William and Emma McGrath in Laconia, NH . She grew up in Laconia and would later marry Pete ( even though she laughed in his face when he told her one day they would be married). She raised three children practically by herself as Pete worked countless hours starting his own business Salta Tire. Once the children had grown she would join him at the business eventually retiring as Vice President.

She loved to play golf and was very skilled at it. She particularly enjoyed beating Pete even though the score card would not show it, as Pete would change the score so he won. Shirley would go on to score three hole in ones at three different country clubs in her lifetime.

Shirley also played on several bowling leagues. She was best known for the slowest bowling ball in the league. It has been said you could start and finish an entire drink before her ball would make contact with the pins.
The saying it’s 5 o’clock somewhere came an hour early for Shirley. Every day at 4 O’clock it was wine time. Nothing made her happier than enjoying a glass of wine with family or friends.

She leaves behind a son Billy and his wife Cindy(Zecha). Daughter Nanci McDonough and husband Brian, daughter Sue Ippolito and husband Chip. Nine grandchildren Meg,Will, Andrew, and James Salta, Tyler McDonough, Alex ,Chris, Samantha, and Kyle Ippolito who was not only her grandson but her best friend. Three great grandchildren Dom, Berylin, and Aribella. Her constant companion Coco the Chihuahua. Two brothers Roger and Donald McGrath. Several nieces , nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a sister Dorothy Harbilas.

She was loved and will be missed forever.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 20, 2018 at 1:00pm at the Beane Conference Center, 35 Blueberry Lane, Laconia NH.
