Elijah (Eli) James Smith, 16, passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2018, after a brave and courageous battle with cancer. He died in his home in Gorham, NH, while surrounded by his family and loved ones. Eli, born January 30, 2002, in Lebanon, NH, was the beloved son of Matthew R. Smith and Danielle L. Smith, and brother to Lucas Smith. Eli continues his journey with his late paternal grandparents, David A. Smith and Cynthia R. Woodward. He was a sophomore at Gorham High School. He will be deeply missed by his extended family, Uncle Dave and Barbara Laurie, Uncle Pete, Shelley and Clover Laurie, Auntie Anne, Dave, Ben, Nick, Becky, and Kenny Carey, and Auntie Carrie and Kate McGovern, as well as his friends from both the Claremont and Gorham communities. Eli enjoyed being part of countless sports teams, spending time with his friends and family, and playing video games with his brother. He aspired to be an elementary school gym teacher. Eli's brilliant sense of humor and wit, and ability to make others smile, will be especially missed.
Services will be held on Sunday, March 11, 2018, 12 noon, at the Town and Country Inn, 20 Us Route2, Shelburne, NH. The family encourages everyone to wear Seattle Seahawks colors.
