SOUTH HADLEY – Gilbert B. “Gil” Lamoureaux, of South Hadley, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, February 28, 2018. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Springfield on November 8, 1942, a beloved son of the late Gilbert O. and Millicent R. (Buckle) Lamoureaux. Gilbert was raised in East Springfield where he attended schools, prior to moving to South Hadley in April 1993 where he lived for the remainder of his life. He was employed as a driver for Marcotte Ford in Holyoke. He was an avid collector of vinyl records and amassed over 10,000 albums in his lifetime. He could often be found driving the “scenic route” and listening to one of his favorite doo-wop tunes, but above all, Gilbert cherished the time he was able to spend with his loving family. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend of over 45 years, Laurie (Duval) Lamoureaux. He is survived by his eight loving children, Joann “Dodie” Bourassa and her husband, Dan Thorpe, Beth-Anne Lamoureaux and her partner, Dave, Gilbert Lamoureaux, Jr. and his partner, Jonathan Dean, Suzanne Lamoureaux and her partner, Bobby Lindsey, Marie McCray and her husband, Donald, Carrie Hearne and her husband, Andrew, Geoff Lamoureaux and his wife, Diane and Gerry Lamoureaux and his wife, Ashley; his six loving grandchildren, Nicole Bourassa and her partner, Carrie, Ryan Thorpe, Marina Mathur, Michael Giacometti, Alexis Giacometti and Zoey Hearne. In September, Gil will be watching the birth of his seventh grandchild from the Heavenly Kingdom. In addition, he leaves his four cherished great-grandchildren, Alexander, Gabriella, Anthony and Guliana; his two dear sisters, Jeanne Burns and her husband, Norman, of Agawam and Margaret Murty of Springfield; his brother, Michael Lamoureaux of Chicopee; his dear sister-in-law, Val Duval of Florida; his dear brother-in-law, Matthew Duval and his wife, Renee, of Chicopee; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Lamoureaux and Duval families.
