Josephine M. Jablonski passed away peacefully on Feb. 21, 2018, at the age of 93. Josephine, who was affectionately known as "Jo," "Josie," "May," and "Mimi," lived at her home in South Weymouth for sixty years before her recent move to Sunrise Senior Living in Braintree.
Daughter of the late Otto and Anna Miller, Josephine was born in Brooklyn, New York, on May 6, 1924. She grew up in Jackson Heights and was a graduate of Julia Richman High School. She loved gardening, playing cards, doing crossword and sudoku puzzles, and rooting for the Red Sox and Patriots. She was an expert cross-stitcher and made many birth announcements for family and friends. Josephine enjoyed her pool buddies at the South Shore Hospital and took many trips to Foxwoods with them. Australia, Hawaii, and Aruba are just a few of the many places she visited. Josephine set the bar high with her work ethic, retiring at age 89 from her bookkeeping position at John J. Pyne, CPA, in Scituate. She worked for the firm for fifty years. More than anything else, Josephine loved being with her family. Birthdays, Christmas, and the Fourth of July on Cape Cod were special times for her. She loved watching the sunset over Long Pond in Harwich surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Josephine was the loving mother of Karen Wilson and her husband Skip of Hanover, MA; Richard Jablonski and his wife Michele of Canton, MA; and Mark Jablonski and his wife Margo Brown of Sandwich, MA. She was the proud grandmother of Richard Jablonski Jr. and his wife Jodie of Mansfield; Adam Jablonski and his wife Bethany of Medfield; Kate Perotti and her husband Jay of Mansfield; Kristina Wilson; and Kristin, Nicholas, and Matthew Jablonski. She was blessed with five great-grands- Sadie, Ryen, Liam, her namesake Josephine, and Aiden. They all adored her and brought her so much joy. Josephine is also survived by her dear nephew, Charles O'Connell, and the entire Bolan/ O'Connell clan, with whom she kept ties her entire life. Josephine was preceded in death by her loving husband Henry Jablonski, and her dear sister Mary O'Connell.
Friends and neighbors are respectfully invited to the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth on Sunday, March 4, from 2-4 PM to honor Josephine. Burial will be private.
