Leo W. Minisce, VMD, 85, of Wakefield, RI passed on November 18, 2017 at home surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife, Linda Wright Minisce and his children, Mark, Brian, Michael, Maria (Therien Tout), Joanna and Alina. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren. He was preceded on his journey by his son Greg and his former wife, Beverly (Sutherland) Minisce.

A Navy veteran of the Korean War, he used the GI bill to graduate from URI and went on to graduate from the University of PA Veterinary School. He owned and operated Lincoln Veterinary Hospital and then established Northern RI Animal Hospital.

Upon his retirement to his farm in Chepachet, RI, he studied Tai Chi and philosophy. His love of the ocean prompted his move to Wakefield. He was affectionately known by his family as the “Wave Master” for his body surfing skills. His love of music and dance, Tai Chi and seeking the truth about himself and life was only eclipsed by his deep love for his very large extended family. Leo touched the lives of many people. His visible kindness and caring presence was contagious and inspiring. His hugs were legendary. Although he is greatly missed, he shared that he was ready for his next adventure and that it was all perfect.

There will be a celebration of Life on Sunday March 25th from 2-5pm at The Pump House in Wakefield, RI.

Donations in Leo’s name can be made to Hope Hospice and Palliative Care, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904
