Obituary

Concord-----Doreen Rose (Cusson) Dickner, 75, passed away at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston on Sunday, February 25, 2018, after a sudden illness.

Doreen was born in Berlin NH on September 13, 1942, the daughter of Antonio and Elizabeth (Dargie) Cusson. The family moved to Laconia when Doreen was four. Laconia was where she grew up and where she returned often. She attended Sacred Heart School, graduating in 1960, and then went on to the Notre Dame School of Nursing in Manchester, becoming an RN in 1963. Doreen’s nursing career included the New England Baptist Hospital, Lakes Region General Hospital and finally St. Paul’s School infirmary, where she worked for over 25 years. She lived in Concord for many years with her family. More recently she has divided her time between Concord and Laconia.

Doreen was predeceased by her beloved husband, Emile Dickner, and her son, Eric Dickner.

She is survived by her dear daughter Stacy Soucy and her husband, Norman Soucy of Laconia, her sister Jeanne Cusson and friend Margaret Aubin of Concord, her brother Peter Cusson and his wife Penny Luc of Pear Blossom California, and her great friend Pat Martin of Bow, NH. She is also survived by many loving cousins.

Doreen was an avid reader and collector of books. There is nothing she enjoyed more than sitting with an open book, just about anywhere. She was also a gifted craftswoman, rivaling Hallmark with her uniquely designed cards. And Doreen was a lover of animals. Each of her number of dogs being ‘the best one ever’ . She was always very happy to care for your dog should the need arise. Doreen loved to laugh, and she did often. She will be missed as mother, sister and friend.

Out of respect for Doreen’s wishes, funeral services and burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Laconia will be private.

Donations in her memory may be made to The Humane Society of Laconia, PO Box 572, Laconia, NH 03247; or The Jimmy Fund at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, PO Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168.
