David F. Hurley, a 12 year resident of Somerville and former longtime resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life accidently on Sunday, February 25, 2018. He was 64 years of age.
David was born in Boston on August 23, 1953, a son of the late Jean L. (Taylor) Fitzgibbons and William Fitzgibbons. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated in the Boston Public School system and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1971. David worked as a laborer for the National Park Service in the Charlestown Navy Yard and retired in 2011 following 33 years of dedicated service to his community and country. He enjoyed walking to the Navy Yard smoking his big cigar in his spare time and also enjoyed playing golf, going to the beach and watching the Boston sports teams.
David is the beloved husband of 40 years to Maryanne "Bunky" (Codair) Hurley. He is the devoted father of David F. Hurley II and his wife Jennifer of Abington and Patrick R. Hurley and his partner Seth Bloom of Winthrop. He is the loving Pop to Lydia and Logan and loving Grandpa Hurley to Chase, Lucas, Cooper and Isla. He is the beloved brother of Gerald Hurley and his wife Marion of Newton and Janine Rzasa and her husband John of Hanson. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend David's Funeral on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. His burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. His visiting hours will be on Friday, March 2, 2018 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
