Janet Carver Stripling, 82, of Irwinville, Georgia, died Saturday, February 24, 2018, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at Irwinville Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Hand officiating. Interment will follow in Irwinville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Monday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mrs. Stripling was born January 2, 1936, in Turner County, Georgia, to the late Henry Clay & Vera Templeton Carver. She was a graduate of Irwin County High School. Mrs. Stripling was the clerk in the Irwinville Post Office for 37 years. She was a longtime poll worker at the Irwinville precinct during elections as well. She was a homemaker and farm wife and a member of the Gideons Auxiliary. Mrs. Stripling was an active member of Irwinville Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and led the GAs.
She is survived by her children and their spouses: Sandra Vickers & Buster of Fitzgerald, Thomas Stripling & Betty Sue of Irwinville, Jack Stripling & Brenda of Douglas, and Denise Jones of Irwinville; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Bobbie Jean McIntyre of Fitzgerald; a brother, Hugh Carver & Bobbie Jo of Lizella; and a sister-in-law, Jo Ann Carver of Atlanta. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd T. Stripling; a granddaughter, Segrid Dianna Stripling; twin great-granddaughters: Bonnie Michelle Shannon and Haley Sky Shannon; and a brother, Billy Carver.
