Ruth A. Honnors, 92, formerly of Derry, NH, passed away peacefully on Thursday February 22, 2018 in the Grace House of Windham. She was born in Boston, MA on August 29, 1925 and was raised by her mother Claire Honnors. She spent most of her career working as a nurse including Raytheon from 1967 until retirement in 1987. She worked in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia for many years and was known as "Aunt Ruth" to most everyone. Ruth traveled extensively around the world. She was an avid golfer and tennis player. She was passionate about giving back to society and was a volunteer for many organizations including the American Red Cross. She was a member of the First Parish Church where she enjoyed volunteering alongside her many friends.
She is survived by four nephews, Glen Grubbs and his wife Debra of Salem, NH, William Grubbs and his partner Richard Bergstrom of Brookline, MA, Wynn Grubbs and his wife Susan of Seabrook, NH, and Todd Grubbs and his wife Susan of Windham; four nieces, Leni Grubbs Squires of Manchester, NH, Lugene Grubbs Pitman of Waterbury, VT, Laurie Grubbs Stone of Seabrook, and Lee Grubbs Burke of Salem; 15 great nieces and nephews; 12 great-great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Jean Louise (Honnors) Fittin in 1999.
Following cremation, a memorial service was held on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 2:00pm in the First Parish Church, 47 E. Derry Rd, E. Derry. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Red Cross, PO Box 37839, Boone, IA 50037-0839 or the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090-6011. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry assisted the family with arrangements.
