LIMINGTON/BALDWIN- Michael Allen Gain, age 57, passed away on Feb. 22, 2018 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House.
He was born in Portland on Dec. 22, 1960, the youngest son of the late Carl and Violet (Hoyt) Gain.
He was a lifelong outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, four wheeling, and tinkering in his garage. His favorite place to be was at Camp, a log cabin he built himself, in Weston, ME. A true Mainer who cherished “Up North.”
He loved stock car racing and was a member of several pit crews over the years, the last crew was for his nephew Matthew.
Mike identified with being an outdoorsman, and spent his life passing this passion on. Nothing made him happier than including the next generation into the outdoorsman ways. His years were spent with friends, and family enjoying all Maine had to offer. His last wishes included a trip to Cabelas, and an ice fishing adventure to East Grand Lake.
He worked for GTE Sylvania in Standish, and at Dearborn / Hunting in Fryeburg until his illness no longer allowed him to.
His family would like to thank all his friends throughout the years who shared his passion for the great northern woods. And to all those who came to him during his illness with love, and memories of those past adventures.
Mike is predeceased by a sister- Linda Genthner and brother in law- Richard Davis Sr . He is survived by siblings- Carl Gain Jr. and his wife Linda of Westbrook, Bonnie Gain of Limington, and Miriam Davis of Baldwin; nieces and nephews- Craig and Matthew, Stacey and Kelly, and Richard Jr. and Nicole; and many great nieces and nephews as well as dear friends.
Services will be held in the spring. Burial will take place at Steep Falls Cemetery.
