Jimmy Mac Gay of Lakeland, Florida passed away peacefully surrounded by family in Lakeland, Florida on February 20, 2018. The family will receive friends Friday, February 23, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Gentry Morrison Funeral Home, 3350 Mall Hill Drive, Lakeland, Florida.
A graveside funeral service will be held for Jimmy at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 25, 2018, at Omega Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest. The Rev. Chris House will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday, February 25, 2018, from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Jimmy was born in Tifton on January 27, 1956. He moved to Lakeland, Florida as a child, where he attended Kathleen elementary, middle, and high school. He was a graduate of Kathleen High in 1974 and was a sales manager with Ronnie's Carpets in Lakeland, Florida for many years. He enjoyed watching his grandson play ball, riding his Harley, watching old westerns, and spending time with family and friends. Jimmy was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charlie Mack Gay and Nora Blanche Bentley Gay and Sherrod Dubose and Addie Fletcher Dubose; his parents, R. L. Gay and Ruby Dubose Gay; a brother, Jerry Helms; and a son, Randy Gay.
Jimmy is survived by his two daughters, Brandy Gay Schulz and Amy Gay, both of Lakeland, Florida; his sisters, Shirley Helms Marchant of Tifton and Janet Helms Rome of Thomasville; and one grandson, Zachary Schulz of Lakeland, Florida.
