John F. Gulowacz, 70, of Woonsocket died with his family by his side, Wednesday February 21, 2018 at Landmark Medical Center.
Born in Boston he was the son of the late Walter Gulowacz and Frances (Ferland) Gulowacz Roy. John was a graduate of Woonsocket High School Class of 1965, where he was given the nickname ‘Johnny Boston’, and was a resident of the city for most of his life.
John was retired from employment in civil engineering at Bibeault and Florentz. He was an active member of the YMCA. John could build anything. He was talented at carpentry, and was usually involved with home repair and improvement projects. He enjoyed the outdoors through running, fishing, and boating. He knew his way around the kitchen as his talent at cooking can attest.
John was an outgoing and friendly gentleman. He possessed a noted sense of humor infused with his trademark dry wit. John will be remembered for his dedication to his family, especially in caring for his Mother and Aunt, and he very much loved his nieces and their families.
John is survived by his sister Joyce Robert of Woonsocket and two nieces Christine Dardaris and her husband Greg of Abington, PA and Cynthia Segnatelli and her husband Rob of Middleboro, MA, grandnephews and grandniece Gregory and Alex Dardaris and Alessandro and Cecilia Segnatelli.
His funeral will be Saturday February 24th at 9:00 am from the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave. Woonsocket followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Anthony’s Church, Greene St. Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham. Visiting hours are Friday (TODAY) from 5-7 pm.
