Claire M. (Cote) Provencher, 86, of Danvers and formerly of Salem, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at the Beverly Hospital from complications from a fall she suffered several weeks ago. She was the devoted wife of the late Donald R. Provencher, Detective Sergeant of the Salem Police Department.
Born in Winthrop, she was the daughter of the late Paul A. and Dorothy L. (Crouse) Cote. She was a graduate of East Boston High School and earned her Associate’s Degree in Culinary Arts from North Shore Community College. Claire worked for the Salem School Department for forty seven years, retiring as Food Service Director for the city. She was an active member of Ste. Anne Parish where she served as a former president of the Women’s League, as well as a member of the Concern and Hospitality Group, Chairperson for the Annual Bazaar and as a Eucharistic Minister. Claire also loved to travel and over the years was a worldwide traveler.
She is survived by her son, Kenneth R. and his wife Joan E. Provencher of Plaistow, NH, her daughter-in-law, Susan T. Provencher of Clifton, Park, NY, her brother, Paul Cote of California, six grandchildren, Matthew of Massachusetts, Elizabeth of New Hampshire, Kelley of Connecticut, Andrew of New York, Marc of Massachusetts, Emily of New York as well as five great-grandchildren, Brianna, Landon, Peyton, Aubree and Abigail, and nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Darlene Maguire, her son, Donald P. Provencher.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Route 114 / 1-A] Salem on Monday, February 26, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. to be followed by her Funeral Mass in Ste. Anne Church, 290 Jefferson Ave., Salem at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be on Sunday, the 25th from 2:00 to 6:00 PM.
