Ferdinand “Frenchie” Lampron, age 87, passed away on Feb 17, 2018 at the Holyoke Soldiers Home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Jolie, Quebec, Canada on Dec 12, 1930 to the late Onil and Philomene (Bedard) Lampron. Ferdinand was a Unites States Marine Corps Veteran serving during the Korean War. He was a meticulous finish carpenter who worked for over 35 years for Kaeddy Construction and retired in 1992. Upon his retirement, he continued to put his carpentry skills to good use for family members and later for his many friends at the McKinley house in Chicopee where he resided. One of his most favorite hobbies was strawberry and blueberry picking, he was well known for his blueberry pudding cake. Frenchie will be remembered for his sense of humor, his gentle nature and his kind, endearing ways. He had a great smile and infectious personality and was loved by all who came to know him. He was proud of his French Canadian heritage and enjoyed playing the spoons as part of his family’s Canadian music ensemble. Frenchie also had a great fondness for his many hats and the wearing of his suspenders. The family would like to acknowledge the loving care and devotion the staff of 1 North at the Holyoke Soldier’s home gave to Ferdinand while he was there and especially during his final days. He was a communicant of the former Assumption Church in Chicopee. He leaves 1 sister Georgette Remillard of Chicopee, a sister-in-law Elaine Lampron of South Hadley, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by 5 brothers Robert, George, Marcel, Maurice and Jean Paul Lampron and by 3 sisters Berthe Thiervge, Mariette Stanton and Lillian Lampron. A Funeral Service will be held on Tues, Feb 27, 2018 from 9:30 a.m. at the Grise Funeral Home followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Holy Name of Jesus parish in the Assumption Church. Burial will follow at the MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. Calling Hours will be held on Mon, Feb 26, 2018 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
