New Bedford – August C. Lopes, age 88 of New Bedford, passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospital. Born in New Bedford, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Anna V. (Galvao) and Carlos Lopes.
He worked at St. Luke’s Hospital in the Maintenance Department
He is survived by his companion, Olga Rice, nieces Brenda Lackie and Patricia Galvin a nephew James Wahnom; as well as several other nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late, Frankie Lopes, Albert Lopes, William Galvin, James Galvin, Peter Galvin, Irene Pina, Mary Nacimento and Francis Goldwin.
August’s visiting hours will be held Sunday from 1:00 P.M. – 3:00 P.M at the funeral home. His funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, beginning at 10:00 A.M. with a service at 11:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
