Obituary

Goff Clark Cochran, Jr., Air Force Pilot, Engineer, Teacher, Executive, died February 20, 2018 at Gilchrist Center in Towson.

Born in Baltimore on September 11, 1920, Mr. Cochran attended the Baltimore Polytechnic Institute and later on received the BS degree from Johns Hopkins University.

In 1943 he enrolled in the US Air Corps as an Aviation Cadet and received his wings and commission in December 1943. His assignments included Basic Pilot Instructor, B-24 Airplane Commander, and C-47 pilot delivering cargo between Anchorage, Alaska and the various Aleutian Islands. He left the service in 1949, instructed in electronics at the Rehrig Radio and Television School, and in 1952 went to work for The Bendix radio Field Engineering division as a Radar Field Engineer. He advanced in this assignment to the level of Chief Field Engineer.

In 1968 he was faced with a choice to either move to Florida or leave the company. He took the latter and opened his own Electronics Parts Business in Baltimore County. After ten years, he accepted an executive position with the American bankers Insurance Group as Regional Manager. In 1985 he retired.

He enjoyed golf, photography, video production, and taught himself to play the organ. Also he was an avid Baltimore Colts fan, and a member of the American Legion Towson Post. Although he had been away from flying for many years, he was examined and received an FAA Private Pilot’s License at the age of 77.

To him, the real joy in life came from his loving family. He is the husband of the late Margaret E. Cochran; father of Patricia C. Keiser and the late G. Clark Cochran, III; grandfather of Richard Keiser, Tina Moore, Kristen Ballard, Brian Keiser and G. Clark Cochran, IV; great-grandfather of Alexa, Roxanne, McKenzie, Olivia, Hayley, Emma, Gwen, Amber, Nicholas and Taylor.
