Mildred “Mimi” L. Iannessa died peacefully at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital after a brief illness. She was 90. Raised in Medford, she was the daughter of the late Luigi and Mildred (Nazzaro) Gallo. After graduating from Medford High School she worked with First National Stores in the administrative offices. She worked with the Department Of Welfare and later enjoyed a 25 year career with the Department of Revenue before retiring. Mimi was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time her family and many friends.
In 1970, after the passing of her oldest son, Ralph, Mimi helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for New England Medical Center towards research of neurological diseases. She was dedicated to helping find a cure for this rare ailment, known as Wilson-Iannessa Disease.
The beloved wife of the late Ralph Iannessa, Mimi was a devoted mother to Stephen Iannessa and his wife Janice of Medford and the late Ralph Iannessa. She was a loving grandmother to Gina Antidormi and her husband Mark of Lynnfield, Maria Iannessa, Stephen Iannessa and his wife Jackie, all of North Reading. She leaves her beloved great-grandchildren: Niccolo, Giada, Stephen, Joseph and Gabriella. Mimi was a dear sister-in-law of Arthur and Rosalie Iannessa of Medford and dear aunt of Arthur Iannessa, Jr. and Mia and Matt Brousse.
Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford Thursday, February 22nd at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, at 10 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit at the funeral home Wednesday 4 – 8 PM.
