Sheila Catherine (Bryan) Vendice, 79, of Medford, passed away on Monday morning, February 5, 2018 in Delray Beach, Florida after a brief and sudden illness. She is survived by her daughters Robin Doherty and her companion Mark Sheehan of Winchester, and Kelly McGovern and her husband Bernie Jr. of Medford. She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Krista Bonetti and her husband Andrew of Framingham, Michael Doherty, and Jaime, Bernie III, and Jake McGovern. She is also survived by five loving siblings, Thomas Bryan and his wife Rosemarie of Wareham, Marilyn White and her late husband WIlliam of Cohasset, Catherine Devaney and her late husband John of Burlington, Helen Robinson and her husband Ted of Everett, and Kevin Bryan of San Francisco, California. She was predeceased by her parents Thomas and Catherine Bryan and her brother William Bryan of Medford. In addition, Sheila had many nieces and nephews who were very special to her.
Sheila was a lifetime resident of Medford and after earning her college degree in her 50s, worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for more than 20 years, many of those at the Courtyard Nursing Care Center in Medford. She found pleasure in going to the beach, gardening, and baking, known especially for her chocolate chip cookies and coffee cake. But her greatest joy in life was being a mother and grandmother which she excelled at.
Visiting hours will be held at the A. J. Spadafora Funeral Home, 865 Main St., Malden on Sunday, Feb. 25, from 3-6 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, Feb. 26 at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Private interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
