Catherine G. Canelas
Longtime Tewksbury Resident
TEWKSBURY: Catherine G. (Perkins) Canelas, age 89, a resident of Tewksbury for over 50 years, formerly of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, passed away at the Mountain View Community Nursing Home in Ossipee, NH on Tuesday, February 13, 2018.
She was the beloved wife of Francis “Frank” Canelas, who passed away on March 17, 2015.
Born in Malden on August 28, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Arthur L. Perkins and the late Louise E. (O’Leary) Perkins.
Catherine was raised in Melrose, attended Melrose schools and graduated from Billerica High School.
Following her wedding on November 27, 1947, she devoted her life to her family and raising her children.
For many years, she and her late husband were communicants of St. Robert Bellarmine Church in West Andover.
Catherine enjoyed spending time with her family, and traveling to Portugal with her late husband.
She is survived by three sons, Frank Canelas and his wife Ruth of New Canaan, CT, Brian Canelas and his wife Laura of Ossipee, NH, and David Canelas of Lake Tahoe, CA; six grandchildren, Will, Sarah, Victoria, Julia, Brigitte, and Samuel; one great grandson, Landon; one sister, Louise Rogers of Arizona.
Catherine was the mother of the late Kathleen Canelas.
Calling hours are Monday, Feb. 26, from 3-7 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Her funeral procession will begin on Tuesday, Feb. 27, at 10 a.m. followed by her Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 198 Haggetts Pond Rd., Andover. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Mountian View Community, Attn: Activities Dept., 93 Water Village Road, Ossipee, NH 03864.
