Worcester, Massachusetts, USA – Aferdita (Alimerko) Pula, 88, formerly of Albania, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 16, 2018 at UMass Memorial Hospital, Worcester.
Born in Vlore, Albania, Aferdita was a daughter of the late Elmaz and Nasibe Alimerko. She relocated to Worcester in 2003. While in Albania, Aferdita worked as an administrative assistant in the construction filed before retiring. She was a fantastic cook, enjoyed creating knitted items for her family members and although not really a gardener, loved flowers. Aferdita spent hours walking slowly in the neighborhood, taking in all the beauty around her. Playing cards with family and friends, watching movies and enjoying Albanian Folk Music from southern Albania were several other joys of Aferdita. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Aferdita relished the time spent with her entire family. She was truly the “engine that ran the family”.
She was predeceased by her husband, Teno, as well as five of her brothers, Eqerem, Myfit, Merkur, Hysni and Memo. She will be loving missed by her three children, Vladimir Pula and his wife, Alma of Tirana, Albania, Dashamir Pula and his wife, Brunilda of Washington, DC and Fatmira Gjonca and her husband, Gezim of Worcester; her 5 grandchildren, her great grandson and her sister, Haxhira Suljoti of Italy.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Aferdita’s family during her Life Celebration visitation on Sunday, February 18th from 2-5 p.m. at the Callahan, Fay & Caswell Funeral Home 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester. Her funeral will be held on Monday, February 19th from the funeral home with a graveside service to be held at 10 a.m. in All Faiths Cemetery (Section O), Island Rd, Worcester.
