James H. Higgins 86, of Natick died Thursday February 15, 2018 at the Wayland Nursing Home.
He was the beloved husband of Patricia A (Doucette) Higgins sharing 61 years of marriage.
Born in Natick and a lifelong resident he was the son of the late Ralph and Theresa (Collins) Higgins.
Mr. Higgins was a Firefighter for the Town of Framingham for twenty years from 1959-1979.
He then along with wife Patricia owned and operated the famed Russ’s Lunch restaurant on Main Street in downtown Natick for many years.
He enjoyed summers at York Beach, Boston sports, especially the Red Sox and Patriots, and was a member of the Natick Elks, American Legion, AMVETS, and VFW.
Mr. Higgins was a proud Veteran of the United States Air Force.
In addition to his wife he is survived by four children Linda Harris and her husband Harry of Holly Hills FL, Lois Hladick and her husband Thomas of Natick, Lisa Pennett of Ormond Beach FL, Michael Higgins and his wife Susan of Beverly, grandchildren Keith, Colin and Shane Harris, Sean Hladick and his wife Nicole, Jon Pennett and his wife Shannon, Tiffany Sawchuk and her husband Corey, Casey Pennett, Nathan and Austin Higgins, 2 great-grand children Jamie Holland and Holly Sawchuk, a brother John Higgins of Florida, brother in law George Tupper, and many nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late Lillian Conway, Ralph Higgins, Robert Higgins and Dorothy Tupper, and father in law of the late Jon Pennett.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service on Monday February 19 at 1:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the John Everett and Sons Funeral Home 4 Park Street, at Natick Common.
Burial will be private.
Visiting hours are on Monday beginning at 11:00 A.M. prior to the service.
