Rita L. Montague
Port Orange, FL.– Rita (Ladouceur) Montague, 87, died February 13, 2018 at Halifax Health Hospice following a brief illness.
She was born in Manchester on June 17, 1930 the daughter of Sarto and Lillian (Simard) Ladouceur.
She attended Manchester West High School and NH College, now Sothern NH University.
She retired from the City of Manchester Probation Department after 26 years.
Despite her health, Rita enjoyed traveling, gambling and her home in Florida.
She became involved with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary in 1984 and served as the President of VFW Ladies Auxiliary, President of Post 8214, and the Department of New Hampshire President in 1997-1998. She was an honorary member of the Manchester V.A. Medical Center for volunteering, and also belonged to the Alpine Club, Elks Club, American Legion Jutras Post and Eagles Club in Florida.
She is survived by her son, Thomas P. Ferguson of Florida, a foster son, Steven and his wife, Sue Moulton, four grandchildren, Brian Soucy, Nicole Richard, both of Manchester, Cheryl Gainey of Hudson, Chris Woodward of North Carolina, a son in law, Carl Greeley of Warner and five great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband Frederick Montague, her daughter, Sandra Greeley and her longtime companion, Robert St. Onge.
A Memorial Reception will be held on Monday, May 14, 2018 from 9 to 11 am at
J. N. Boufford & Sons Funeral Home, 110 Bridge St.
A graveside committal service will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Rd.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Elliot Hospital Pulmonary Rehab Scholarship Fund, c/o one Elliot Way, Manchester NH 03103.
