Obituary

FRAMINGHAM: Emmett Andrew Shea, 87, died peacefully and with comfort on Saturday morning February 10, 2018 at Saint Patricks Manor following a period of declining health.
He was born in Worcester on October 24, 1930 the son of the late Emmett A. Shea and Lotte (Lis) Shea.
He was the beloved husband of Margaret (Carr) Shea of Framingham. Devoted father of Carolyn A. Shea-Morrone of Ashland. Cherished grandfather of Kellie A. Morrone and James C. Morrone, Jr both of Ashland. Brother of Ursula Shea of Paxton and the late Deborah Shea. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Emmett has been a resident of Framingham for over 50 years and previously resided in Natick and spent his formative years in Worcester. He graduated from Worcester Classical High School. He received his B.S. in Education from Boston University as well as his Masters and PhD in Education. He also obtained a Masters Degree in Political Science from Boston College. He served his country during the Korean Conflict as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps.
Emmett had a long and distinguished career as a Professor from 1963 until his retirement in 2012 from Worcester State College. He was the Chairman of the History and Political Science Departments at the College. He was formerly on the faculty at Wellesley College, Regis College, College of the Holy Cross and Framingham State College. He was awarded the Outstanding Performance Award and a Citation of Meritorious Service from Worcester State College.
He was a member of the American Historical Association; American Slavic Association and the American Asian Association.
At the request of the family there will be no funeral home visitations.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at 10:00 am in the Holy Family Chapel at St. Patricks Manor, 863 Central Street, Framingham.
Private interment will be held in the Carr family lot in Forest Hills Cemetery in Jamaica Plain,
