Christopher J. Murphy, 34, unexpectedly passed away on February 10, 2018 as a result of a long battle with heart disease. He was born August 8, 1983 in Southie, to John and Beverly (Rowell) Murphy.
Chris was preceded in death by his Maternal Grandmother Margie Rowell, Maternal Grandfather Arthur Rowell, Paternal Grandmother Florence Murphy and Paternal Grandfather George Murphy. Chris leaves behind his beloved daughter Ariana, parents John and Beverly (Rowell) Murphy; his brothers Paul and Ryne Murphy. He also leaves his Auntie Kathleen Rowell, Uncle Tommy Murphy, Uncle Timmy Murphy, Aunt Kathy Murphy, Aunt Tammy Murphy, Aunt Kelly Murphy, Aunt Donna Murphy and several cousins and friends.
Chris grew up in Eastie and attended East Boston High School. In 1998, Chris and his family moved to Palmer where he attended Palmer High School. Chris loved sports; he loved to collect memorabilia of all kinds. Growing up he played hockey, basketball and baseball. He was an avid fan of the Celtics, Red Sox, Bruins and Patriots. He always spoke of bringing Ariana to a game one day. Chris also had a great love for music. He often found music as a way to express himself. Chris especially loved listening to Motown because it reminded him of the love he had for his Nana Margie.
2015 was a very hard year for Chris. He ended up in the hospital and received a new heart through organ donation on July 13, 2015. After Chris received his heart he continued to struggle with new health issues. Throughout it all, Chris fought hard to overcome all of them. The love for his daughter gave him the strength to continue the fight. He fought with all he had. Chris will be missed by many. His legacy will be carried on by his daughter Ariana.
Visitation will be held at Casper Funeral Home, 187 Dorchester St, Boston, MA 02127, on February 16, 2018 from 4-8 pm. Graveside services will follow at another date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a trust that has been set up for Ariana. Donations can be made out to Rachel Messier Trust FBO Ariana and mailed to 146 Main Street, Monson, MA 01057.
