Margaret Fountain Zorn died Monday, February 12, 2018 at Spring Arbor Assisted Living Center in Rocky Mount NC. Margaret was born and raised in Sycamore, Ga. An only child, she was preceded in death by her parents Maggie Collier Fountain Denham and Jim Nicholas Denham (step-father) and William David Fountain, Jr. A lifelong resident of Fitzgerald, Ga, she moved to Rocky Mount in 2016.
After graduating from Sycamore High School, she attended the University of Georgia where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. After receiving a teaching certificate and working in the public school system, she created the Central United Methodist Church Kindergarten teaching there for many years. In 1987 she became the Director of Christian Education at Central retiring in 2005. Upon retiring she became the Senior Adult Coordinator at Central and also provided a letter writing ministry writing to shut-ins. She loved her church dearly and served in many capacities. Margaret was the first female Chairperson of Homecoming at Central. She was the first female board Chairperson in the Methodist Valdosta District. She was the first female asked to be the Sunday School Superintendent declining due to other duties. She has been President of the United Methodist Women and vice-president several times in addition to being a Leader & Co-leader many years in the United Methodist Women Groups.
She is survived by her daughters, Lutricia Z Murphy (Ross) of Rocky Mount, NC, Nicki Z Kearley (Jerry) and Marguerite C Zorn of Birmingham, AL; grandson Jim Murphy (Jennifer), great grandchildren, Edy Murphy and Taft Murphy, all of Raleigh, NC.
Visitation will be held Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Central United Methodist Church Sanctuary at 9:30 AM. A celebration of life will follow at 11:00 AM. A private Inurnment will be held at a later time.
