Obituary

Joseph Turner 91, a resident of Hanson, passed away Tuesday February 13 at his home, surrounded by his loving family after a short illness. He was the beloved husband of sixty-five years to Jacqueline (Junkins) Turner

Born in Boston he was the son of the late George and Gladys (Costello) Turner.

He had worked for the Central Fuel Company of Boston for over forty years and later for the Atlas Fuel Company as a service technician, retiring in 1991.

Joe spent countless enjoyable summers at Lake Ossipee in New Hampshire at the “Totem Pole Park”. If you knew Joe, you could find him sitting at the Grove as Dock Master or teaching line dancing at the recreation hall. He will be greatly missed by his many friends and staff of the park.

In addition to his wife Jackie, he leaves behind his daughters Joanne Stoll and her husband George of Whitman, Janice O’Connor and her husband Bill, Judy Kelly and her husband Bob and Jayne Sayce and her husband Frank all of Hanson along with his beloved eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren and his sister Lorraine Derosa of Whitman. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings George, Arthur, Thomas, Homer, Herbert, Phyllis, Gladys and John.

Visiting hours will be held Friday February 16 from 9:00-10:30 AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman, followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 AM in St. Joseph the Worker Church, Hanson. Burial will follow in the Fern Hill Cemetery, Hanson.
