Rita M. (Brooks) Hayes 75, of Franklin, died peacefully, Sunday February 11, 2018, at her home, surrounded by family, following a long illness. She was the beloved wife of Kenneth P. “Flipper” Hayes, with whom she shared 52 years of marriage.
Born July 27, 1942 in Norwood, a daughter of the late Frederick B. and Alice I. (Schremser) Brooks, she was a former resident of Norwood and Webster before moving to Franklin over 50 years ago.
Rita was raised and educated in Webster, and worked as a machine operator for Plimpton Press in Norwood and the Halliday Lithograph Corporation.
She was devoted to her family and enjoyed camping.
In addition to her husband she is survived by, 2 sons, Kevin P. Hayes and Brian M. Hayes both of Franklin, brothers, Stanwood L., Royce F., Harry B., Robert J. Brooks, sisters, Sylvia M. Clinton, Ruth L. Ferschke and Alice I. Cierpich.
Also surviving are 2 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
She was the sister of the late Marion A. St. Clair and Shirley L. Thompson.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service Thursday Feb. 15th in the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral home 33 Cottage St. at 10AM. Her interment will be held privately.
Calling hours are Wed. from 5-8PM.
