Wallace A. “Wally” Bibbey, Jr., 83, of Berlin, passed away peacefully on Wednesday February 7, 2018 at the St. Vincent de Paul Rehabilitation and Nursing Center after a 5-year, courageously-fought battle with Parkinson’s Disease and Lewy-Body Dementia. Wally was born in Plaistow, NH on December 11, 1934, the son of the late Wallace A. Sr. and Helen M. (Colson) Bibbey. He was educated in the Haverhill, MA and Waltham, MA schools and was a graduate of Waltham High School with the Class of 1952. He later received a Certificate of Liturgical Music from Aquinas College in Newton, MA. He was a well-known Master floral designer in the Boston area for 54 years and was the owner of Petals 'n Things in Malden, MA. After moving to Gorham in 2000, he became the manager of North Country Florist at its Berlin and Mt. Washington Hotel locations. He also worked with Terri Colarusso at Gorham House Florist for several years. He was also a popular church organist throughout the Boston area and a professional cake decorator.
He is survived by cherished daughter, Linda Bibbey of Berlin, with whom he had a special relationship, and beloved grandchildren, Jessica Cabana of Berlin and Caleb Sands of North Reading, MA. He also leaves daughters Brenda Woods and husband Leonard of Shrewsbury, MA and Lisa Sands and husband Kevin of North Reading, MA; many friends throughout the Berlin area, especially at Northern Lights Housing and St. Vincent de Paul Rehabilitation and Nursing Center; long-time close friends Brian Cabana of Gorham and Angelo Sarro of Merrimac, MA as well as his “Lollipops”, Chloe.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, William T. Bibbey, formerly of Burlington, MA, as well as his beloved best friend, Maximilian (Max) and special “Little Ones”, Oscar, Riley, and Katie-Rose.
As per Wally's wishes, there will be no calling hours. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish in Berlin on Thursday, February 15 at 10 a.m. At Wally's request, please dress comfortably. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Activities Fund, 29 Providence Avenue, Berlin, NH 03570. The Bryant Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements.
