Ethel M. Roderick, 89, a lifelong Provincetown resident died Sunday, February 11, 2018 at home. She was the widow of lobsterman and commercial fisherman Irving R. Roderick, who died in 2002.
Ethel was the daughter of Clarence and Georgiana (Furtado) Williams. She was a graduate of Provincetown High School and worked at the Bradford House and Motel, Sebastian’s Long and Narrow Restaurant, then later, for the Town of Provincetown.
A member of St. Peter the Apostle Church, she volunteered at the Soup Kitchen for St. Peter’s.
Ethel enjoyed socializing with her many friends, whether it was at the Swap Shack, on the cruise to Puerto Rico or at her Coffee Klatch. She loved her dogs and had many throughout her life. She often would be seen throughout the town walking her dog and chatting with friends in the early morning hours.
She is survived by daughter Yvonne Roderick-Oda of Kaysville, Utah, granddaughters Tanya Hurley, Kara Agresta, Allison Freller, and a grandson, Seth Alexander. She also leaves twelve great grandchildren and many, many friends. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Yvette Freller of Harwich.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Gately Funeral Home, 94 Harry Kemp Way, Provincetown on Thursday, February 15th from 4 to 7 pm. A Graveside Service will be held Friday, February 16th at 10:00 am in the Monsignor Duarte Chapel at St. Peter’s Cemetery. Jerome Smith Rd, to be followed by burial.
