Jesse “Roscoe” Ware, 73, of Ledyard entered eternal life on Friday, February 9, 2018. He was born on February 2, 1945 in Kimberly, Nevada the son of Jesus Gonzales Casarez and Loma Lee McCown. After the death of his birth father, he was adopted by Jerald Ware, his stepfather. On July 28, 1971 he married Dolores Anne Johnson and was blessed to have 46 years of marriage to the love of his life.
Jesse began his career as a Police Officer with the North Las Vegas Police department, prior to enlisting in the United States Navy. While in the Navy, he served on multiple FBM’s including the USS Greenling, Dallas, Roosevelt, Hamilton and Kamehameha before ending his career as COB on the USS Shark. During this time, he also received multiple commendations and awards, retiring as a Master Chief Petty Officer after 22 years of dedicated and honorable service. He then went on to work for the State of Connecticut, Department of Corrections and retired in 2008. Jesse was active in his church, Sacred Heart of Groton, serving as both a Eucharistic Minister and Lector. He was always willing to lend a hand and help out anyone in need.
He loved to travel, play cards, go to the movies and always enjoyed a good meal out., but nothing made him happier than spending time surrounded by his family and friends. He was his grandchildren’s biggest fan, cheering them on in their sports and drama activities. He loved to joke around and will be forever remembered for his beautiful and mischievous smile.
In addition to his wife, Jesse is survived by his three children Jerald Christopher Ware and his wife Marcie (Fraser) of Canandaigua, NY, Michael Thomas Ware and his wife Kimberly (Yerkes) of Uncasville, CT and his daughter Theresa Anne Judge and her husband Christopher of Uncasville, CT. He also leaves behind his five cherished grandchildren, Kendall, Logan, Jack and Jessica Ware and Morgan Judge, a beloved niece Karen (Johnson) Micciche and her husband Chris and their two children, Haley and Julianne of Wantagh, NY. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Hannah Marie Judge.
The family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Mystic, on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 between 6:00pm and 9:00pm.
A funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church, 56 Sacred Heart Drive, Groton. at 11:00am on February 15, 2018.
Family and close friends are invited to attend the burial that will take place on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 11:00am at Elm Grove Cemetery, Mystic, CT.
