Frederick Gregory Gibbs, 86
Dateline: North Attleboro, MA

Frederick Gregory Gibbs of North Attleboro, formerly of Mansfield, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family after a long and hard fought illness on Friday, February 9 at the age of 86.

Born in Portland, ME on November 19, 1931 he was the loving husband of Barbara (Dodson) Gibbs for 56 years., He was predeceased by his parents Frederick N. and Irene (Murphy) Gibbs and his step-mother Frances (Faulkner) Gibbs. Besides his wife he leaves his son F. Gregory Gibbs, Jr. of Amsterdam, NL, daughters Eileen, and her husband Jay Boylen of Attleboro and Maureen Gibbs of North Attleboro, his loving grandchildren Corey and Caley Boylen, and Jocelyn, Katherine and Nicholas Jackson, his niece Mary Ayotte and her partner Barbara Mispilkin of Strong, ME, as well as many cousins and friends.

Fred was a graduate of Deering High School in Portland, ME, Kent’s Hills School and a graduate of Boston University. He was an active participant of youth sports and enjoyed being a coach and officiating for Foxborough Pop Warner Football for several years. He served in the US Army during the Korean conflict and he was a lifetime member of the DAV, American Legion and the Taunton DAV #57.

The majority of Fred’s career was spent in the transportation industry retiring as an International Sales Representative for Federal Express. During his retirement he enjoyed boating on Cape Cod and Narragansett Bay as well as traveling to Europe.

Fred’s main focus was his Family and Grandchildren, who were of great joy to him.

His funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Friday, February 16th at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mark’s Church, 105 Stanley St., North Attleboro. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in North Attleboro.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, February 15th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.

In lieu of flowers, Fred’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the Community Visiting Nurse Agency, 10 Emory St., Attleboro, MA 02703.
