Obituary

James F. “Brooksie” Brooks, of Kingston formerly of Whitman, died at his home in Kington on February 5th. He was 63, born December 15,1954.

He was an honored athlete and Varsity basketball player for Whitman Hanson High School, Class of 1973. He continued his education at Massasoit Community College and much later in life, studied as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor at Stonehill College.

Brooksie brought joy and laughter to everyone he met, at an ice rink, a market, a car wash or a stoplight. He was a teamster union worker who valued his family heritage and was an advocate of the Veterans in the Vietnam War.

He could often be seen paying tribute to his lost ones at Colebrook Cemetery, carrying treats to dogs he just met or tapping on the glass at a hockey game to cheer on his favorite goalie and great nephew Sam Chapman. While heaven just got a bit brighter, he will be sorely missed but never forgotten.

He was predeceased by his parents, Beverly V. and Grace (Pilote) Brooks and his brother Cpl Robert E. Brooks.

He is survived by his beloved sister Winifred ”Freddi” Chapman, brother Edward Brooks, many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

His graveside service will be held on February 17th at 11:00AM in the Colebrook Cemetery, Whitman. Visiting hours were omitted by the family’s request.

Donations in his memory can be made to Father Bill Mainspring House, 430 Belmont St., Brockton, MA 02301.
