MYSTIC: Daniel Thomas Murray, 57, of Mystic died unexpectedly on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London surrounded by his family.
He was the son of Gerald P. and Patricia B. (Herlihy) Murray who predeceased him.
He was a veteran of the U.S Air Force. He retired from the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport, RI, where he worked for 37 years. He was an avid fan of the L.A. Rams, Nascar, the Red Sox and he enjoyed playing golf. He was a member of St. Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church in Groton.
Danny is survived by his longtime partner, Tracy L. Massey, sisters Nora Costa and Gigi Murray and her husband Bill Bachinski , his Aunt Maisie (Mary Hall), nieces and nephews Sal Gramolini, Patricia Costa, Matt Costa and his wife Christine, and Godchild Ali Nigma, as well as cousins Gerri and Jack Beckman and April and David Hannon and many close friends.
His family will greet relatives and friends on Sunday, February 11, from 5 to 8pm at the Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Mystic. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, February 12, at 11:00am at St. Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church, 69 Groton Long Point Road, Groton. Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, River Road, Old Mystic.
