GORHAM - Patricia E. Stevens, 79, of Gorham passed peacefully the afternoon of Tuesday, Feb 6, 2018 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough. Pat was born in New York and grew up on Long Island. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Elizabeth Nostrand. Pat graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Hempstead in 1956 and Molloy College in Rockville Center in 1960.
Pat was employed as a social worker in New York City. She was very devoted to her clients, visiting them in their homes, helping them solve their problems, and to have better lives.
While teaching school at Fort. Dix, New Jersey, Pat Nostrand met and married First Lt. Larry Stevens.
Pat and Larry settled in Cranford, New Jersey where they raised their three children.
Pat taught school in New Jersey until she and her husband retired and moved to Maine. Mrs. Stevens enjoyed reading books, traveling, especially to historical sites, and loved to shop for antiques and for gifts for her grandchildren. In addition, Pat wrote poetry and was a published author. Every Christmas, she wrote a Christ-mas poem which was treasured by family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, her three adult children- Lawrence A. Stevens, Tara E. Stevens, and Christina Miller, and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday Feb. 9 from 10 – 11 AM at St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church, 299 Main St. Gorham, followed by an 11 AM funeral mass at the church. Burial will be at a later date.
