Obituary

Louise A. (Peters) Dupre, 85, of New Bedford died February 5, 2018 at home after a long illness with her loving husband by her side.
Louise was the wife of Joseph E. Dupre, Jr., with whom they shared 60 years of marriage. Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late George and Kaffa (Dumas) Peters, she lived in New Bedford all her life. She attended New Bedford High School, graduating in 1950. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Purgatory Church and a member of St. Joseph’s Sodality. Her Faith and her Church were an important part of her life, which was evident in the way she lived her life.
She was formerly employed as an operator at AT&T before raising her family. After raising her family, she enjoyed working at the gift shop at the New Bedford Whaling Museum. Besides tirelessly and beautifully running her household, Louise enjoyed spending time at the Country Club of New Bedford, heading north for ski trips with her family, traveling with her husband to exotic locations, cooking amazing meals, being at the beach where she was happiest and being in the company of her dog Mr. Duff.
Our Mom will always be remembered for how welcoming and gracious she was to anyone who walked into her home and by all who knew her as the dignified and classy woman that she was.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph; 4 daughters, Elizabeth Reynolds and her husband Thomas of Sandwich, Ann Dupre and her husband Mike Robothum of Wareham, Rosemary Dupre and her fiance´ Doug Colwell of South Dartmouth and Louise Tibbals and her husband Timothy, of North Dartmouth; 2 sons, Joseph E. Dupre, III and his wife Elisa of Mattapoisett and Peter Dupre and his wife Elaine of North Dartmouth; 3 sisters, Octavia David, MaryAnn Chomak and Norma Thomas, all of New Bedford; her adoring grandchildren Abigail, Genevieve, Jessica, Savannah, Lily, Thomas, Louise Ann, Edward, Joseph (Jed) Amalia, Eden, Jacob & Annica.
She was the sister of the late Sr. Mary Rose Peters, RSM, Cecile Attalah, Mary Barckett, Freda Thomas, Ann Abraham, Theresa Coury and Emily Alves.
We would also like to thank her 4 Caregivers who tirelessly and lovingly took care of our Mom with dignity and grace, exactly the way she deserved to be treated: Natalia Ciriello, Crystal Tabicus, Stacie Rodriguez and Denise Maciel.
Her Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 14th at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Purgatory Church, 11 Franklin St., New Bedford, MA.
