Obituary

Elton Reynolds, 85, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Sunday, February 4, 2018, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at Crossview Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jeff Parmer officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services, 10 AM until 11AM, at the church.

Mr. Reynolds was born July 21, 1932, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late John Henry & Hattie Housend Reynolds. He graduated from Fitzgerald High School and played the drums in the band. Mr. Reynolds served his country honorably in the United States Army for three years and retired from the United States Air Force. During his career with the Air Force as an aircraft electrician, he was stationed in Louisiana, Illinois, South Carolina, Texas, Alabama and New Mexico as well as abroad in England and for a short time in Takhli, Thailand during the Vietnam War. He loved woodworking and being a member of Crossview Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, Sunday School teacher, a choir member and he served on the counting committee.

He is survived by his two sons: David & Teresa Reynolds of Fitzgerald and Robert E. “Bobby” & Missy Reynolds of Gray; his grandchildren: Susan Elizabeth & Ian Steele of Porterdale, April Reynolds of Warner Robins, Angela Reynolds of Warner Robins, and Jodi & Joey Jones of Gray; three great-grandchildren: Basil Steele, Jolie Jones and Robert Greathouse. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Mary G. “Sis” Reynolds; a brother, J. C. Reynolds and a sister, Bernice Nall.
