Freddie Lee Gaddy, 83, of Tifton passed away Monday, February 5, 2018, at the Rehabilitation Center of South Georgia in Tifton. His funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 7, 2018, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. C. A. Hulett officiating. Mr. Gaddy will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 6, 2018, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
James Gaddy, J. C. Gaddy Jr., Scott Gaddy, Walter Chaney, Allen Grizzard and Michael Sykes will serve as pallbearers.
Born September 20, 1934 in Porterdale, Mr. Gaddy was the son of the late Freddie Marvin Gaddy and Cleo Tante Sherrell. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Shelby Jean Gattis Gaddy; his step-father, Herman Sherrell; his step-mother, Emma Mae Gaddy; and two sisters, Sylvia Chaney and Rebel Miller. Before retiring in 1976, he worked as a maintenance supervisor and was of the Pentecostal faith. He loved to fish.
Mr. Gaddy is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, JoAnn and Curt Simpson of Tifton; two brothers and one sister-in-law, J. C. and Betty Gaddy of Sylvester and Herman Sherrell, Jr.; one sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Buddy Smith of Warner Robins; two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law, Patricia and Raymond Sykes of Douglasville and Olama James of Logansville; two grandsons and their wives, David and Lori Simpson and Justin and Haley Simpson, all of Tifton; and four great-grandchildren, Aubrey Simpson, Cayden Vickers, Ryder Propes and Alyssa Simpson.
