LIMINGTON- Miriam W. Burnham, age 87, passed away peacefully at her home on Feb. 2, 2018, surrounded by her family that she loved so much.
She was born in Fredericton Junction, New Brunswick on July 20, 1930, a child of the late Hugh and Elizabeth (Read) Westrup.
Miriam was a lifelong educator and taught grade school and special education in Bar Harbor, New Jersey, Bangor, Bath, Freeport, and Scarborough.
Both she and her husband Carl are longtime members of the East Limington Baptist Church.
Miriam will always be remembered as a loving woman who loved life and cherished being with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She also enjoyed knitting hats and mittens for those in need, being in the outdoors, traveling, fishing vacations in Canada and gardening.
In the early 1980’s after both Miriam and her husband retired, they moved to Limington and began the process of restoring a farmhouse. They also created the Blue Bird Meadow Farm that they both equally cherished.
She is predeceased by all of her siblings.
Miriam is survived by her beloved husband- Carl A. Burnham; children- Robyn Malia and her husband Patrick of Limington and Mark Burnham and his wife Karol of Gorham; her grandchildren- Matthew and William; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Feb. 10 from 10 – 11 AM, followed by an 11 AM memorial service at the East Limington Baptist Church, 404 Sokokis Trail in Limington.
